How did you get the photo? Did you set up the shot or was it a spontaneous click and shoot?
My wife, Linda, and I were cruising along on our rented scooter, and as we came around a sharp turn at the top of a hill, we saw below us a cute little fishing village with some scattered sailboats in the harbor. As we got closer, Linda yelled out, "Stop! Look at the sailboat. It looks like it's floating in air." I pulled over, got my camera out and took about a dozen photos from different angles. We were lucky -- the water was flat and crystal clear, and the sun was at the right angle to create a shadow on the sea bottom that was only visible from our elevated position on the hillside. Some of our best photos are often spontaneous.
Was this your first time to Croatia?
We were on a month-long boat trip aboard the National Geographic Endeavour, exploring some of the smaller islands and towns throughout the Mediterranean. It was our second trip to Croatia, having been there only a week before, so we thought we would do something different. Upon landing via zodiacs on the island of Mljet Croatia, we decided to take a pass on the planned activities and rent a scooter to explore the island on our own. It was a good choice.
Where is your favorite place to travel?
We are fortunate in that we spend about a third of our time traveling to exotic locations around the world. I would say our favorite places to travel are Antarctica/South Georgia Island and wildlife safaris in Africa.
Where do you want to go first with your grand prize miles?
To visit family across the country, and I suspect we will use them to visit Antarctica again.
